THUSS [Studio], Nashville, photographer. Photographic oval portrait of Dr. J.P. McFarland. Item #3397
5"x3.5" oval print on 9"x6" studio card mount. Nashville [Tennessee]: Thuss, Ca. 1850. Mc Farland's portrait is probably a copy of an original daguerrotype image. McFarland represented Los Angeles in the California Senate in the 1850's. He was also a financial backer of John Downey in the establishment of a pharmacy. Downey, of course, was successful, bought a ranch, and ultimately promoted the city of Downey. Very good. |
