3 issues: June 1884, April 1886, March 1897; 168, 160, 224 pp.; 8vo; salmon wrappers with front cover engraved vignette of steam train surrounded by smaller steamships, stages, etc.; folding maps in each volume; advertising throughout; timetables; listings, etc.; housed in simple cloth or leatherette covered slipcase with label. San Francisco: H. S. Crocker Company. Individual folding maps, variant editions of "Official Railroad Map of the Pacific Coast Compiled Expressly for the Railroad Gazetteer" for the respective issues. The 1884 map measures 21.5" x 25.5" printed in b&w; 1886, 23.5" x 15" printed in b&w with green state borderlines; 1897, 24" x 16" in b&w. First and third maps with closed tears at fold creases and junctures and are somewhat fragile though quite intact. The 1886 map is about fine. First volume [1884] with loss of lower half of front cover, replaced by crude xerox; chips, tears, overall wear, spine taped, map laid in; [1896] spine taped, minor chipping at edges, otherwise in nice shape; [1897] volume lacks back cover, replaced by construction paper, spine taped, chips to front cover with thumb size loss at front corner and lower edge; Fair, Good, Very Good condition respectively. |
