According to the original July, 1879 billhead of Whittier, Fuller & Co., Walter & Co. purchased 5 cases of Polar Oil, as well as cases of Boiled & Raw oil, and 2 cases 20 gal. Alcohol. Central Pacific receipt preprinted for Whittier Fuller indicates Linseed and Polar oil received for delivery to Reno, care of Gold Hill. Virginia & Truckee R. R. receipt shows 1 short on the Polar Oil and the remaining memos, forms, letters, on Central Pacific & V. & T. stationary, with one Walter & Co. billhead, shows the chronological effort to trace. The final V. & T. voucher appears to show a reimbursement of Walter & Co. for one case, plus shipping for $5.30. Case closed. Fine condition. |
