Henry Little Soldier (Henry Sitting Bull). Signed.

By David Humphreys Miller. Colored pencil and crayon on tinted art paper, drawn from life in 1938, signed Dave Miller. 10"x8". Henry Little Soldier was one of Chief Sitting Bull's adoptive sons and fought under Black Moon at the Little Big Horn. When David Miller met him, he was performing in a celebration and rodeo sponsored by the Wyoming Pioneer Association at Douglas, Wyoming. In 1890, Henry Little Soldier witnessed the assassination of Sitting Bull and then left the agency to join the Indian forces in the Badlands. He was briefly with Big Foot's band, but then left to find Kicking Bear, thereby avoiding the massacre at Wounded Knee. This sketch is signed by Little Soldier, with his adoptive name Henry Sitting Bull.
