Bronze, 7.25" x 21" x 4.75", edition of 36 (Original sculpture 1931). Heikka shows his sense of humor in this first encounter between a pair of ear cubs and an unhappy skunk. "Surprise" was actually the only Heikka sculpture to be cast in bronze during the artist's life, in an edition of two. One was for Heikka, and the other was for the owner of Taylor Chevrolet Company in Great Falls, as payment for a bill. The bronze offered here is from a subsequent, posthumous casting. |
