[NEVADA]. Autograph Letter from E. L. Buckingham to [Hume Yerington] regarding politics, intrigue, and enemies, [c. 1888] Item #7594
9.75" x 7.75"; 2 p. letter on single ruled sheet. Virginia City, Nevada, no date [c. 1888]. Having been told that there were to be some changes at Union Mill & Mining affairs, Buckingham writes Yerington that he was "sent out of the Empire State Mill without cause to give a place to a friend of Mr. Kegan. You know Mr. Yerington that I have always been a friend of Mr. Sharon and his interests without Money. I feel and know that I have been set asside [sic] and your enemies rewarded. I was a candidate for Assessor of this county - My nomination was overlooked and I was set aside and Geo. Lammon favoured by men that should have favoured me. Geo. Lammon for the last year has done all in his power to injure Mr. Sharon & the bank, it looks to me strange that they should reward their enemies instead of their friends." Mr. Buckingham then throws down - "I want this Powers [who has not heretofore been mentioned] put out of the Empire State Mill and myself put in charge he is a dirty pupy." [?] etc., etc. Fold creases with some soil along interior fold lines on one side of letter otherwise very good condition. |
