1896 to Walla Walla, with blured circular date stamp and and circled 12 hand cancel over 2 cent red; clear circular Walla Walla date stamp on back; printing & vignette in blue on white cover; 1903, circular date stamps San Francisco to L. A., machine cancel over 2 cent red. Whitaker & Ray were Publishers, Booksellers and School Furnishers at 723 Market St., dubbed The History Building by Hubert Howe Bancroft, who rebuilt his History Company there after the fire of 1896 destroyed the Bancroft Building. W. & R. also published The Western Journal of Education. Even age tanning to 1903 cover, else very good condition. |
