[GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE]. Original Illustrations and Plans for the Railway Express Agency Float at the 1937 Golden Gate Bridge Fiesta Item #7743
Three original illustrations and two technical drawings. [1936]. Beginning on May 27, 1937, the Golden Gate Bridge Fiesta was a weeklong event celebrating the completion of the span. The parade that was part of the Fiesta featured floats from several companies, including REA. The drawings in this lot show three different design proposals executed on paper by A. McBain of San Francisco. Two of these drawings are brightly colored with paint and colored pencil and measure 8.25"x13.5" and 10"x21" respectively. The other drawing is in pencil only, and measures 17"x22". Design elements include the bridge itself, heaps of gold, a stagecoach, pony express rider, gold scales, etc. The two technical design plans for the float are both in pencil on thick tracing paper, and measure 36"x57" and 23"x32". The smaller technical drawings appears to be incomplete; everything else is in near fine or better condition. |
