[DEATH VALLEY]. Lot of photographs of Death Valley & Vicinity from the files of the Automobile Club of Southern California, assembled 1920's - 1030,s.

56 black & white copy photos; overall image sizes range from 3.5" x 4" to 7.5" x 9"; most with typed captions affixed at bottom edge; some pasted two up on sheets of paper. In 1909 The Automobile Club of Southern California published Touring Topics to provide a chronicle of landscapes and destinations for automotive tourism, featuring extensive coverage of desert and coastal regions of California, national parks of the American West and Hawaii. These file copies were gathered over the years by the monthly magazine to illustrate their articles on Death Valley and the surrounding area. Includes 8 "Desert Rat" photos with several portraits of "Dad" Fairbanks", Shorty Harris, and Albert Cruz with shots of their abodes. Some of the other photos include: deserted Rhyolite, shots of Mosaic Canyon, Telescope Peak, Grotto Canyon, Golden Canyon, the Panamint Range, Monastery Hill, view of the old mining town of Darwin, a tunnel in the Widow Mine, Manly Beacon, the Mill at Trona etc., etc. Very good condition.
