The author describes his boyhood in Missouri; across the Rockies to Portland, 1847; stay at Whitman's Mission before the massacre; Santa Clara Valley in 1850, Fresno, Banking and Raisins in 1884, San Diego in 1887; and "my part in the battle for woman's suffrage."
