Item #7964

3 silver prints; 11"x14"; handstamp of Whelan's Antique Photographs on back. Wonderful images of a bustling Goldfield including two captioned in white, P. E. Larson, photographer: "Main Street in the Greatest Gold Camp in the World" showing a street populated with people, buggies, carriages, wagons, one automobile on what could be election day. Banner of Claude C. Inman for Constable hangs across the street. Second photo by Larson, "S. P. R. R. Co. Monopoly Makes the Citizens of Goldfield Shiver in the Cold, 7,500 Aplicants for Coal and Fuel Offering $95.00 per ton in Cash for the Cheapest Fuel in the U. S." Captures the long line of towns-people stretching in front of the Brown Palace Hotel [with workers finishing construction] out past the Goldfield Daily Tribune onto the snow covered ground. Third image with no caption shows a fourteen horse freight wagon carrying two large tanks down the street in front of the Hotel Esmeralda and adjacent businesses. There is a large crew near the wagon and many townspeople have turned out to watch the event. Crystal clear detail. Fine condition.
