years. Even the paragraph about "Doc" Holliday shooting a man in Los Angeles was without foundation. Holliday, to my positive knowledge, never had been in Los Angeles nor as far west as the Pacific Coast, and this shooting affair, which Scanland mentioned, occured [sic] five years after the death of "Doc" Holliday in Colorado. Thus it goes when a man is not present to defend himself.

The story is almost finished, my friend assures me, so this ought to be ready to present to you before the holidays. I am becoming a little anxious for it myself but I guess his personal affairs have demanded all his time recently. However, I hope to have to MS. before you before a great while. In about ten days, my schedule is taking me out to camp; there is always assessment work and development to be done, and I hardly expect to be in Los Angeles again for several months.

Mrs. Earp wishes to be remembered; we trust you are well. Please give our regards to your sister and write us a line, or telephone if it is convenient; be sure to do this.
