Trafalgar Bar Jany 9th, 1860
My Dear Parents,

I received your letter dated Oct 19th. We have not yet been able to do any work but I think the worst part of our winter is over and that we shall be able to resume operations in a week or two. The weather has not been so severe as you would imagine just going from our latitude. The thermometer has not been below zero except on one or two occasions. I think the lowest was twelve degrees below zero. We are having some snow at present but not much frost. I hope you have found some way to get along this winter. It has cost me many a pang and heartache when I thought of you and my inability to help you. I received a letter form William by last mail. He says he does all he can for you. I am very glad to have such good reports from Bro George. I have got to write to the girls and I. West this mail ...
